Hello and welcome. My name is John LaCroix (although these days I most often go by "Mr. L"). I teach 6th and 7th grade Math at Khalil Gibran International Academy in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. In addition, I teach a Current Events elective and coach after school sports (football, track middle school-style).

In a previous life, I worked the Boston commercial real estate market as an advisor/consultant/broker type. Despite my current New York address and six years spent in Boston, I most identify with the "Ocean State" (Rhode Island) where I was born and raised in a family of six.

I use podcasts, web videos and some online math tools in my classes on a usual basis. I am, however, very much looking forward to learning more in the areas of web design, html code and java where my experience is limited. I find technology to be the best tool to reach and engage my students and for that reason, among others, I am excited to get started on this blog and in 7666.
